No Thanks

I’ve worked in the women’s fashion industry for over 20 years. I began my career in QC (quality control) and worked my way up to Lead Designer/Creative Director. I know the ins and outs of the fashion industry and I've traveled the world looking for inspiration and sourcing product. And one thing that I've noticed consistently along the way is the options for plus size women are slim pickings.

I've loved fashion since I was a kid and I've always known my path would lead me to work somewhere in the fashion industry. As a kid, I used to pretend I was a famous fashion designer living in Paris! And while I don't live in Paris (I've been very fortunate to visit on several occasions), I do have the opportunity to design my own collection and create my own brand.

I’ve been a plus size woman all my life and it's finally time to create a brand that matches my California lifestyle and my love for the casual bohemian aesthetic.  I've always been a huge fan of specialty retailers like Free People and Anthropologie and can spend hours wandering around shopping. Sometimes I get lucky and can even find something that fits me! Unfortunately, those moments are far and few between. More often than not I leave empty handed and discouraged.

After several years of hoping and wishing for things to change in the industry, I finally found the courage to do it myself. I've spent the last 13 years working for a women's wholesale company and I decided it was time to take my knowledge of design, sourcing, production and importing and create my brand. It's been a labor of love to say the least and many years in the making, but life is all about timing and it's my time.

Someone asked me recently "Why caftans and cover-ups ?". Well, I love a good caftan! The effortless style, the comfort factor, and the ability to dress up or down. It's so versatile. And who doesn't need a cool cover-up? I'm always searching for both! And the material is key. I didn't want to design a polyester collection, I wanted to give you a collection that would last longer than one season and not make you sweat to death! That's why I designed the collection with two fabrications, cotton, and viscose. Cotton because it's a natural fiber that is lightweight, airy and breathable. Viscose because it drapes beautifully over the body, it's lightweight and doesn't trap heat.

Each collection I design is Limited Edition and I’ve only produced a limited amount of each style. I want you to feel special and unique knowing that there are a limited amount of people wearing each style and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

My vision for the brand extends beyond caftans and cover-ups and eventually, I'll get there, one day at a time. Let me know what you think! Your opinion matters to me! I’d love all the feedback and input I can get because I plan on growing and evolving with you.

Cheers!

Leah
