In 2022 the Leah brand launched two new collections of sustainable, luxury accessories with a lot of hard work and fun along the way.

The year 2022 gave us so much to celebrate! It’s a time that will always hold a special place for us as it was filled with a lot of highs that we’re proud of and will always have to look back on. So many moving pieces happened behind the scenes to make 2022 a highlight year for the Leah brand. From launching new premium women’s accessories in the Spring and Fall, to fresh collaborations, content, and branding - there’s so much to recap and share. Many of the design updates were small changes that truly had big impacts on quality and style. Even our hangtags got a little refresh - they’re now a piece of art themselves - hand stamped leather, finished with a wooden bead for an organic, minimalist aesthetic. We also upgraded our new straw hats with  high quality sewn in sweatbands for ultimate comfort and added adjustable sizer ribbons to ensure a perfect fit for both straw and wool felt hat styles.

In April we launched our much anticipated Spring/Summer ‘22 collection which featured our first set of premium tripilla straw hats: the Moonlight rancher with a special cattleman crown, the Cove fedora - our classic pinch crown elevated beach hat style, and the Soleil fedora - a ready-to-wear straw hat, fit to complete any outfit. During this collection launch, we also introduced 100% genuine leather, removable hatbands in chic, California inspired colorways: blush, black, and bone (our original brown hatband is included with each straw hat purchase).  Rounding out the Spring/Summer premium straw collection were five new resort style straw bags: the La Plage tote - an oversized dual handle luxury beach bag, the Penny tote - a lightweight straw handbag with black detailing, the Maren - an accessible crossbody purse, the Bree tote - an over the shoulder bag with colorblocking, and the Sunny - a versatile crossbody bag with a removable leather strap. We also re-introduced the Mini Sunset basket bag as the perfect accessory to pair with any sundress.

After a successful Spring/Summer launch, and lingering warm weather in early Fall, we set our sights on a first for the Leah brand - introducing a premium wool felt hat collection. Inspired by the California coastal lifestyle, we were able to officially launch a small batch of three new winter hat styles - in multiple colorways at the end of October. Each hat in the new ‘Staring at the Sea’ winter line was designed by Leah in California, ethically sourced in Bolivia using heavyweight wool, and handcrafted by artisans in Puebla, Mexico. The Kiss Me Fedora is a classic pinch crown style, available in three different approachable colors: bone, charcoal, and tan - it’s hard to pick a favorite. The Elise Fedora comes in a rich brown, it’s a great option for a special event or winter getaway. Lastly, the most loved style has been the stiff brim Smith Rancher in black and brown - this one looks great on everyone. Each wool felt hat comes with a matching, removable leather hatband that’s fastened with a gold hardware detail. These styles are handmade with integrity to last for years, and intentionally designed to withstand trends with their timeless yet modern shapes - we must add that they also look beautifully displayed on a hat wall at home.

We also enjoyed collaborating with local photographers in Southern California on a few different photoshoots - from beautiful family photos with some pretty perfect ‘mini and me’ shots, to a western ranch setting starring sweet horses and our wool hats, and a creekside spring engagement picnic with our straw basket bags. We look forward to working with more local creators in 2023, sharing behind the scenes of the design process here in California and the stories behind the artisans who uniquely handcraft each item with intention and care.
